Not all pastors are predators, but chances are you (or your spouse) may be in danger if you try to break off the “relationship” with your abuser. Not always, but often, the type of person who will do these types of things is sociopathic in nature and he can be very dangerous when he doesn’t get his way. He has (most likely) shut out the influence of the Holy Spirit by not listening to Him and he may turn to violence in order to obtain what he wants—namely you.

If the abuser perceives that the only reason you won’t be with him is because of your spouse, he may make threats or take action against your spouse. It is very important to tell your spouse what is happening!

The pastor needs to know that, irrespective of your spouse, you will no longer have any type of involvement with him.

If you notice stalking behaviors, go to the police immediately! This will show the pastor that you are aware of what he is doing and have no interest in any further contact from him. Stalking behaviors include, but are not limited to:

1. Masked threats
2. Hang-up calls
3. Being followed or watched
4. Life- or health-threatening innuendos
